The City of Anamosa (pop. 5,450) is seeking a motivated, hard working, and community-minded individual to serve as our Recreation Coordinator.


Anamosa operates under a Mayor-Council form of government with an appointed City Administrator.  Anamosa is a full government service community with 7 departments including City Hall, Police, Fire, Streets, Public Utilities, Library, and Parks & Recreation. 


Under the general direction of the Parks & Recreation Director, the Recreation Coordinator is primarily responsible for overseeing field preparation and maintenance, coordinating special events and reservations, managing youth and adult programs, and performing general maintenance of facilities.  The Recreation Coordinator will also provide assistance to other Parks & Recreation personnel. 


Required Qualifications:

• US Citizen. 

• High school diploma or equivalency. 

• Valid Iowa driver’s license. 

• Able to work evenings and weekends. 

• Familiar with general office procedures and practices. 

• Must have the ability to speak and write effectively, and to establish effective working relationships with the public and fellow employees. 

• At least one (1) year of experience in a public organization is preferred. 

• Demonstrated knowledge and/or experience in facility and field maintenance. 

• Prior experience in planning and coordinating events/programs is preferred. 


Starting salary will be $20.64 per hour DOQ/DOE. (Subject to a 90-day probationary period)
