Position Summary:

The Assistant Aquatic Director plays a key role in supporting the Aquatic Director in overseeing the daily operations, safety, and programming of the Aquatic Center and waterfront areas. This includes assisting in the development and implementation of swim programs, maintaining facilities, and ensuring a safe and inclusive environment for all participants.

Qualifications:

  • Enthusiastic, energetic, and passionate about aquatics and water-based activities.
  • Demonstrates kindness, patience, and the ability to work effectively with individuals with disabilities and children of varying abilities.
  • Experience supporting individuals with disabilities is a plus but not required. Camp will provide training.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age and possess a valid, unrestricted driver’s license.
  • Ability to pass (or currently hold) the following certifications:
    • Lifeguarding with Waterfront Endorsement
    • First Aid
    • CPR
    • Water Safety Instructor (WSI)
    • Certified Pool Operator (CPO)
  • Physically capable of performing the demands of the role, including:
    • Working in varying weather conditions
    • Walking long distances
    • Lifting and carrying 50+ pounds

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in planning and facilitating aquatic programs tailored to camper groups and weekly camp themes.
  • Ensure the highest standards of safety across all aquatic and waterfront areas; proactively identify hazards and report them immediately.
  • Maintain a consistent cleaning and maintenance schedule for all aquatic facilities.
  • Support and lead swim lessons, including transporting participants from local schools as needed.
  • Collaborate with other lifeguards to coordinate lesson plans and daily schedules.
  • Provide effective and timely problem-solving in response to day-to-day challenges.
  • Stay informed and research relevant safety and compliance regulations.

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Assist with the development and oversight of canoeing, kayaking, and fishing programs at the waterfront.
  • Promote a positive and inclusive environment aligned with the mission and values of Camp Courageous.
  • Lead by example in maintaining professionalism, enthusiasm, and a strong work ethic.
